Founding BlueChip Venture Capital marks a significant milestone in my lifelong dedication to the semiconductor industry. This sector has experienced sustained growth following Moore’s Law, with modern semiconductor chips — incorporating over 10-20 billion transistors on a fingernail-sized chip — supporting almost every aspect of our contemporary life, from daily conveniences to cutting-edge technologies.

Semiconductors are the foundation of our digital world. My career began in 1972 as an engineer in Penang, Malaysia. Over the past fifty years, Penang has evolved into a critical global technology center, now home to over 300 leading semiconductor companies and more than 4,000 local supply chain companies. I have had the privilege of mentoring many of these companies, witnessing their growth into billion-dollar enterprises, and helping to establish Penang as the “Silicon Island of the East” and the world’s sixth-largest semiconductor hub.

With the Malaysian semiconductor industry on the brink of significant growth, driven by global demand and geopolitical factors, we see a prime opportunity to support both emerging startups and established enterprises. We are committed to leveraging Malaysia’s robust industrial base to spearhead this transformation. Our strategy involves collaborating with international companies to deepen technological expertise and create value, harnessing the talents of exceptional engineers to build unicorn companies. We plan to invest substantial capital in transformative projects to elevate Malaysia’s semiconductor value chain from backend assembly and testing to fabless design, advanced packaging, and equipment manufacturing. BlueChip Venture Capital will utilize its experts and extensive network to add value to selected business entities and expedite their IPOs. Our goal is to solidify Malaysia’s position as a leader in semiconductor and significant investor in the ASEAN region.
