PY Lai

Dato’ Seri PY Lai founded BlueChip Venture Capital in early 2023. He is a veteran of the industry with over 50 years of experience.

Deeply entrenched in the semiconductor industry, from his early days at NS (now Fairchild) to Intel Asia President and culminating in his retirement as Chairman of Motorola China (32 years).

In Motorola, he enhanced the mobile phone supply chain, spanning from wafer fab to mobile phones and base stations in China.

His strategic vision and entrepreneurial spirit led to Intel’s establishment of the semiconductor supply chain and R&D in Penang. Led 8 entrepreneurs to achieve MYR Billion dollar entities listed on Bursa Malaysia (KLSE).

Founded GEM Education Group in Suzhou, China.

Honored by governments and professional bodies, he holds esteemed positions such as Fellow at the Malaysian Academy of Science and Board Member at the US Center of Creative Leadership.

Tan Sri Andrew Sheng

Tan Sri Andrew Sheng is a former central banker, securities regulator and financial commentator.

He was Bank Negara Malaysia’s assistant governor. He worked in World Bank and was later Deputy Chief Executive of Hong Kong Monetary Authority.

Previously Chairman of Hong Kong Securities & Futures Commission. He was also on the Board of Sime Darby Berhad, Khazanah Nasional Berhad, and currently Distinguished Fellow, Institute of Capital Market Research, Malaysia.

He writes for the AsiaNewsNet and Project Syndicate on global finance and current affairs.

Dato’ Dr. Tan Tat Wai

A Harvard and MIT graduate, Dato’ Dr. Tan Tat Wai began his career at the Central Bank of Malaysia and later a consultant to the World Bank and the United Nations University.

He served as CEO of Southern Steel Bhd. for 27 years (1984-2011), growing the company from RM30M to RM3B, and leading its IPO in 1993. Currently, he is the Group Managing Director of Southern Steel Berhad (since 1993) and Chairman of Southern Rubber Works Sdn. Bhd.

He was Chairman of Maybank’s Risk Committee and Remuneration & Nomination Committee, where he served as an independent director.

He held the role of Secretary of the Council of Malaysian Invisible Trade, focusing on policy formulation.

Clement Song

Venture Partner of Sinnovation Ventures. Chairman of Clement and Xinxin Foundation.

His innovations include: eCitySky, world’s first web3D virtual world platform (merged with YY in 2011, listed on NASDAQ in 2012); AiNemo (CEO), a smart home robotics brand, sales of US$400M, ranked world’s 1st in the smart display category (Baidu acquired AiNemo in 2020); XYLink (2016), a spinoff from AiNemo, which is now China’s leading cloud-based video conferencing company.

Clement is an active angel investor in the US and China high-tech space.

Dato’ Seri HE Koay

Dato’ Seri Koay has more than 20 years of experience in the precision engineering industry. He is an investor in ICT and the digital economy, a real estate developer and has interest in a diversified group of companies.

Currently the Group Managing Director of publicly listed Kobay Group and a limited partner in Blue Chip Venture Capital. Active in community affairs, Dato’ Seri Koay is also the Chairman of Chung Ling School in Penang.

Dato’ Dr. Rafiq Adikan

Professor Dato’ Dr. Ir Faisal Rafiq Mahamd Adikan is currently the VP for R&D, Monash University, Malaysia. He was Vice Chancellor (2019-2022) and Chief Digital Officer (2023-2024), Universiti Sains Malaysia’s (USM).

He was Deputy VC, University of Malaya, where he served for 22 years, including as Professor of Engineering Science.

He co-founded the award-winning photonic manufacturing company, Flexilicate Sdn. Bhd. Flexilicate’s clients include NASA and Johns Hopkins University.

Prof Rafiq has his PhD in integrated optical devices from the Optoelectronics Research Centre, University of Southampton, UK.

Datin Seri SK Ko

The first female Corporate VP at Motorola Inc. Asia-Pacific, who spearheaded the trunking communications system business.

She also served as the Managing Director and VP of Motorola Penang, where she led both manufacturing and R&D operations for the trunking communications factory.

She launched the trunking communications manufacturing factory in Tianjin, China.

SK was the former Chairman of the Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC). She is currently a Co-Founding board member and Executive Director of the GEM Education Group in Suzhou, China.

Hor Yoke Chee

Close to 20 years at Intel, Ms. Hor was the former Chief Finance Officer of Intel Malaysia and Asia Pacific.

Significant experience leading the finance function in an MNC. A veteran senior corporate executive, her commitment extends to education, co-founding Pelita International School in 2000.

Currently, she is the consulting CFO and board member for the GEM Group, bringing multifaceted expertise to both corporate and educational realms.

Kevin Shu

Kevin is a highly successful technology entrepreneur in the advanced semiconductor industry, with a particular focus on memory Integrated Circuits.

He worked for many renowned semiconductor companies in Silicon Valley, USA. Kevin returned to China to become the co-founder of GigaDevice Semiconductor Inc. (US$8B market capitalization).

He served as Chief Technology Officer of the company until his retirement. He is an expert on US-China regulations in the semiconductor industry.

CK Tan

CK is a self-made technology entrepreneur with over 40 years of experience in semiconductor and electronic EMS sectors.

He is the co-founder and General Manager of Globetronics Technology Bhd, as well as the Vice President of NationGate Group Bhd, overseeing strategic business development of the company.

CK has wide connections in the academia and industrial sectors. He is now based in Penang, serving as the COO of BlueChip Venture Capital.

Shen Jie

Shen Jie has more than 20 years experience investing in China.

This includes IB/Legal experience in top-tier companies such as investment bank and financial services company, Goldman Sachs; international law firm, Davis Polk; electronics manufacturer, Foxconn; and out-of-home advertising giant, Focus Media.

He graduated from Fudan University and New York University School of Law.

George Liu

George brings 40 years of semiconductor industry experience, including 20 years at Intel and 20 years at TSMC, where he held various roles across US and Asia.

His expertise spans IC process engineering, PC chipset design, multiprocessor architecture, new factory startups, international supply chain enablement, and product line management.

Recently, George retired from TSMC as a Senior Director in Speciality Business Development, where he managed a business valued in the tens of billions of dollars for over a decade, driving its growth at a faster rate than TSMC’s overall corporate growth. He also incubated many successful IC startups.

Foong Wai Fong

Entrepreneur with 20 years of experience in China, Wai Fong co-founded Megatrends Asia with the US trend guru John Naisbitt.

Other best-selling books with John Naisbitt; “Megatrends Asia” and “Megatrends China”. Her book “Culture is Good Business” was voted one of top 10 best-selling books (Taiwanese Commonwealth Magazine).

Served as member of the International Board of Advisors for the City of Rotterdam (2006 to 2009).

She currently serves as the Chairman of the family holding company SunFresh Fruits Group, which supports a 10,000-acre Food Park in Malaysia.

Yvone Foong

Over 25 years experience in the US and Asia, Yvone is the Managing Director of Chektec, a business software platform for value chain traceability and sustainability.

Managing Partner and early Co-Founder of a visual effects and 3D animation studio.

Served as COO and ex-Board member of M2B World Asia Pacific.

Yvone has her Masters degree from the University of Southern California (USC).

Han Jun Siew

Han brings 15 years of institutional investment management, strategy development and corporate structuring.

During his 10-year stint in Khazanah, he covered investments and divestments (public and private markets) and corporate restructurings. He was the team lead for the global financial services portfolio and co-team lead for private markets Southeast Asia for Khazanah National, Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund. He also covered value-creation projects for Khazanah including a commercial bank in Thailand.

Prior to Khazanah, Han was a corporate finance consultant with PwC Advisory practice.

Pey San Tan

Pey San has 20 years of experience in accounting, administrative and finance roles within the semiconductor, electronics manufacturing industries, as well as in public accounting firms.

She was a pioneer staff at Bitmain and the first employee in Jinko Solar. She has extensive expertise in setting up companies in Malaysia and securing various government licenses.

Pey San graduated from TAR College. She is a member of ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
